Review - Pizza Port, Carlsbad Village Drive

Rating: 1.5 of 5
Very bad experience Pizza Port, we spent $16 with about 2 hrs of time in your restaurant and wasted both of our precious time and money.
I always say that restaurant reviews which I share with you, are not just about the food, they are also a lot about experience. We eat out to enjoy a nice, relaxed time and of-course to enjoy good food. Sometimes, even famous well established restaurants forget to take care of customers and let their reputation down. One of such experience was today at PIZZA PORT, Carlsbad Village Drive.

Saturdays, we generally eat dinner early to relax in the evening - update blog or surf online or so. Early dinner means late night cravings!! By 10 PM, my husband wanted to have something spicy and good (and was not ready that I cook for him again). We always saw Pizza Port packed on weekends whenever we were roaming around that area. I always wanted to try food there. So, we decided to go there, have some beer and some appetizers.

Our Order - Please note what their menu describes (especially words I highlighted, I will explain later.)

1) My husband ordered Spicy Baked Chicken Wings (Buffalo Style), $8.75 a portion - Basket of wings served with Ranch Dressing and carrot and celery sticks.

2) I ordered Mac & Cheese Bites, $6.75 a portion, Baked Bite Sized pieces of battered cheesy goodness served with Marinara Sauce.

We placed the order, paid and went to grab some beers for tasting. The beer that we liked, we ordered a glass and then started waiting for our order. 10 mins, 20 mins and then 30 mins passed and then my husband decided to go and ask. Pizza Port cooks told him,  ticket has arrived, will be ready in 5 mins.

Ok, lets wait. Another 10 mins, 20 mins, 30 mins and no sign of order. He went again and this time, cooks  (who were standing ideal in the prep area since there were no pizza getting ready at that time) realized that my husband had come second time. He said, "oh! I will do some extra for you, please give another 10 mins".

Another 15 mins and my husband told me, either now, after waiting for 1 hours 15 mins, they will give me appetizers right away or I need my money back. He went again. Cook saw him, grabbed baking sheet with chicken and mac bites from oven, dumped in a "Pizza Tray", threw in few ranch and hot sauce packed dressings and gave it to my husband.

So now look at the bold words I mentioned in the order description above.

1) Buffalo Style - No, wings were just baked, not covered in buffalo sauce instead they gave 2 pouch of Tapatio  Salsa Picante Hot Sauce to help ourselves.

2) Basket of wings - No, wings were literary dumped in a "pizza tray" and given to us, where as,  many others were served  in nice serving  baskets. What happened, did we not paid them enough or our order was not large?

3) carrot - No carrots were served with wings.

4) celery sticks - No celery sticks were served with wings.

5)  Baked Mac Bites -   There chalk board menu says,  mac bites are baked, even an average cook can tell that they were not baked. Bites were actually fried and frozen product, just passed thru oven to warm up.

6) Marinara Sauce - There yellow paper menu says, bites come withmarinara sauce and believe me, I could not spot any marinara on our so called "serving plate". By-the-way, they not even bothered to plate wings and bites separately, instead just threw them in same tray.

I figured there appetizers were not made fresh at all. So, first of all don't waste your time and money going to pizza port, carlsbad village drive. I will never recommend anyone to dine at Pizza Port again. Second, if you still go, DON'T order anything other than pizza, that too at your own risk and with hell lot of time to spare, because who knows what there pizzas taste like. We not tried (I am happy about that) and they are certainly not professional in dealing with there customers (for sure).

P.S. My husband was near their prep and cook area to ask for late order a number of times and Pizza Port made us wait for more than an hour, giving us spare time to observe many hygiene and sanitary issues:
1) Oven looked like has never been cleaned.
2) Food on floor all over in there prep area.
3) Open waste bins just next to serving area where they put order ready to serve.
4) Dirty and fresh trays kept next to each other, touching each other.
5) Staff not washing hands in-between, cleaning tables, handing garbage disposal and then grabbing food to serve.
