Baked Oysters with Garlicky, Sweet and Sour Scallion Sauce
Posted By Savita
Oysters can taste delightful if you know how to cook them well. If you are new to making oysters at home, I recommend to buy cleaned and opened oysters and consume them the very same day. Today, I am sharing with you the recipe for easy, quick and flavorful Oyster Appetizer. I made these for anniversary celebrations of Anands and everyone love'em so much.
Live oysters (not opened) can stay good in refrigerator up to two days. If you planning to make this for a party, make sauce ahead of time and then either buy oysters already-opened the day of event or buy 1 day in advance and open oysters 1-2 hrs before event. Keep'em ready with sauce in refrigerator and bake'em just when guests start arriving.
This recipe is courtesy of my little bro who is also an excellent Chef. He is a seafood fanatic and expert in making traditional recipes from all over the world. I am planning to learn few of his tricks (and recipes of course) and will be sharing with you some seafood bonanza in coming months.
These succulent, sweet and sour oysters will burst in your mouth & will transport you to Asia. I'm hooked the taste of oysters since I tasted'em with this easy yet so scrumptious, garlicky, sweet and sour sauce.
Recipe will serve 4-6 people and it easily doubles if you planning to make a bigger batch. Try this and Enjoy!!

Ingredients
- 12 Oysters (already opened, I usually get'em opened from butcher.)
- 4 tsp Soy Sauce
- 2 tsp Rice Vinegar
- 1 tbsp Honey
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 6 Garlic (fresh garlic cloves fine minced not paste)
- 1 Shallot Onions (fine chopped)
- 2 tbsp Water
- Salt and Black Pepper (as per taste)
- 1-2 Thai Red Pepper (seeds removed and thin sliced)
Directions
-
1. Set oven to preheat at 350 F. Dice and slice onion, garlic, scallions and pepper. In a small bowl, mix together, soy sauce, honey, vinegar and water and set aside. - 2. Make Sauce - In a pan, add 1 tbsp oil, add onion, garlic, scallions, sliced chili pepper and saute for 1 minute (don't let garlic burn). Add the mixture to the pan, bring to boil and then switch off the heat. Taste and season with salt.
-
3. Bake - Arrange oysters on a baking sheet lined with grilling tray. (You can also fill tray with salt before placing oysters to hold oysters up-right) Divide scallion and pepper mixture over oysters and spoon sauce divide equally. Bake'em for 5 minutes and serve immediately. Additional Notes:
Handle oysters shells with care as they tend to heat up quickly.
