I promised to share restaurant I love to dine-in and also the ones I will never visit again with you all. However, this is going to be only once in few months. We mostly cook at home and stick to planned menu during weekdays. Over weekends, we prefer few of our trusted restaurants to eat out.
Since we are still renting, we often keep moving our residence every few years due to increases in monthly rental. Where one way it is a hassle, other way it is always a nice change and an opportunity to experience some new local food joints. You know, what foodies need? In beginning, we taste and try new food joints near-by. Once we have a short list, then we just stick to these trusted ones to eat out.
Me and Vishal both were hooked to Thai One On after we tasted their food the first time. I remember we were shifting from our old rental apartment to new one when we first tasted their food during lunch hour. I loved the taste and hospitality too. Restaurant is usually jam packed whenever we go there, but waitresses will take care of you as if you are the only one dining.
I know many of my blogger friends only share their reviews about food. But I always say, ambiance is as important as the food. I have long list of restaurants where food is good but they deal with you with so much animosity. Really!! As if they never wanted us in their restaurant. I will share that list with you one by one. For now, let me share my favorite dishes in Thai One On.
I am fan of their Drunken Noodles with Tofu or Mock Duck. Vishal loves Spicy Fried Rice, Fresh Rolls and he can never resist ordering their Thai Spicy Hot Wings. It often happens that we are not planning to go anywhere over the weekend and not even feeling like to cook. At that time, take-away order from Thai One On comes to our rescue. We always feel lucky to have this fastest, safest, and economical restaurant with good food so close-by.
Indeed, dining at Thai One On is really economical. Even if you indulge in 4 course meal with drinks, you will spend less than many other Thai places in the area. And food is very authentic too.
When it comes to food, you know me, I always take inspiration to cook something from my favorite restaurants home and try copy-cat it. Can't help it guys, I love experimenting. However, I have tried hard to replicate their Spicy Drunken Noodles at home, had no success yet!! Well, I will keep trying until I get it. Luckily we are not changing apartment this year, so we can enjoy scrumptious food from Thai One On for some time more.
Thai One On is not just our favorite. Many of Vishal's friends also eat regularly at Thai One On. In-fact, they only introduced us to this place. Few of Vishal's distant friends once visited us last year. We specially took them to dine at Thai One On. Vishal's friends were on meat-less diet during those days and they went crazy for mock duck. (For those who don't know. Mock Duck is wheat gluten based textured protein used a lot in Asian cuisine. Many people cannot tell if they are eating real chicken or mock duck. Interesting!! Isn't it?) Thai One on chefs braise mock duck in some special broth to give it extraordinary taste and flavor. Mock Duck is one of my favorite protein to eat at Thai One On.
Oh!! how did I forget to mention their Half Moon Tons? These are crispy little wonton skins filled with avocado and cream cheese. Crispy & crusty wrapper with creamy and delicious filling is always to die for. Given any day, I can just dine on a plate full of Half Moon Tons. Super yummy and addictive!! One of other Vishal's favorite appetizer there is - Fresh Rolls. Rice paper rolls filled with fresh veggies, crispy tofu or shrimp and served with warm, sweet and spicy Peanut Sauce. I bet Vishal will pay anything to get recipe of that yummy peanut sauce. :) He loves it.
We have great time whenever we visit or order food from Thai One On, Vista, Ca. They use good quality ingredients, show great hospitality and serve authentic economical Thai Food. I don't think we desire anything else from an excellent dine-out experience.
Whenever you visit San Diego next time or if you live near San Diego, visit Thai One On in Vista. I bet you will love their food and will enjoy a great dinning experience.
Good job Thai One On and thanks for all those last minute, on-time and delicious take-away orders. Keep it up!! We love you.
