1. Heat oil in a deep heavy bottom sauce pan. Add cumin seeds and bay leaf. Fry for 30 seconds. Add pre-washed rice, salt and 3 cups of water. Cover the pan and bring to boil on high heat. Reduce the heat and cook until water has evaporated.

2. Once cooked, leave aside covered for 5-10 minutes so that rice get chance to absorb any moisture hanging around. Then fluff with a fork and serve.
Savita's Notes:
