Ingredients

  • 1 and 1/2 Cup Basmati Rice
  • 1/2 tbsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Bay Leaf
  • 1 tsp Canola Oil (Or Clarified Butter - Ghee)
  • 1 tsp Salt

Directions

  • 1. Heat oil in a deep heavy bottom sauce pan. Add cumin seeds and bay leaf. Fry for 30 seconds. Add pre-washed rice, salt and 3 cups of water. Cover the pan and bring to boil on high heat. Reduce the heat and cook until water has evaporated.
  • 2. Once cooked, leave aside covered for 5-10 minutes so that rice get chance to absorb any moisture hanging around. Then fluff with a fork and serve.

Savita's Recipe Notes:

For best results soak rice in water for 20 minutes before cooking. Rice will cook quickly and will be fluff and smooth in texture.
